coming soon

Coming soon will be pictures of my newer ceramic pieces which consist of a my purple elephants, a burnished bowl , and a sculpture of a bunch of messed up bowls which where thrown on the wheel and smashed together to create an interesting piece of art that will look cool with plants in it because they will grown out of all parts of the piece.

Mr. Sculpture

This was supposed to be a sculpture of a baby pouting with a hat on backwards but turned out to be a grown man who is extremely into the baseball game and has a snarl on his face. The process in making this beautiful creature consisted of making its shape by squishing newspaper together and wrapping that in sourrand wrap. Then i layered about a cementer thick of clay on top of my form and started to create the general shape and slowly added the hat and facial features.  The features are pretty accurate except for the proportion between the eyes/ eyebrows and the hat. there should have been a little more space. it is currently in the process of being glassed, red, blue, brown, and tan.

Coil Pot

This is my coil pot. It is about 10 inches tall. I used a series of coils and stacked them by using the technique of slip and scoring. once the coils were stacked and about 8 inches high i started to smooth out the inside. I then smooth half of the outside and decided to finish and smooth the entire pot.  With  two inches until i finished i added flat round shapes to ass some contrast to the pot.  My coil pot is not being used outside as a planter.

Heart Pinch Pot

This heart was not an assignment but i made it on a day where i had nothing else to do. It was made like a pinch pot but in the shape of a heart. i used a needle to engrave I LOVE YOU in the center.

Giraffe Wire Sculpture

The very first project made in ceramics was a wire sculpture, i chose to make a giraffe. It took a while to twist the wires around each other. For the legs i had to fold the wire in half to give the effect of the feet, then twisted the wire, one i made the legs long enough i had to cut the wire to be able to twist the wire once again, around the body.  I repeated the same process to make the neck and head but with longer wires. Then i used about three layers of paper mache, let it dry then painted the pattern of a giraffe on it to finish it off.

Pinch Pot

My first pinch pot was made to look like it was under the sea.  I used my thumbs to make the pattern and texture on the sides of the pot. The pinch pot has a round foot. the middle and bottom of the pinch pot is glazed orange and the upper half is mellow yellow.

my first pot thrown on the wheel

This is the first pot that i have ever mae on the wheel. I spent about 30 minutes getting it right. i started by centering the clay on the wheel. I then shaped it so that the clay resembled a bowl. I then had to use my thumbs and slowly apply preasure to create the actual bowl shape. Keeping my hands steady while giving it height. i am excited for it to come out of the kin so that i can glaze it and put it to good use.
